26 Aug Learned Helplessness - what does it mean to a fearful dog? Imagine that you are afraid of the dark. You absolutely have to have a light on at all times, or you start to panic. Proper, scary, can't handle it panic. Then someone comes along and says they can cure you - and EVEN BETTER - it's guaranteed! WOW! Sign me up. They shut you in a dark room, lock the door and tell you that facing your fear will help. You can shake, cry and shout, maybe even scream, you lose the ability to think like you normally do. You might freeze, go into a complete meltdown.
